not really ...
[bichot] domaine long depaquit chablis vaillons 1er cru 2006
straw; apply, something tropical ... pineapple?; a little savoury, mineral, golden delicious, there's that pineapple again; not very long ... some woodiness at the end that i did not care for; ... POP!(+) not sure if i liked this one; well priced.

a little fuzzy
st. cosme CDP 2006
ruby with a purply tinge; cherry, long pepper, grilled meat (hint); ripe fruit, cherry, prune, mineral, pepper; heaps of furry tannin ... a little too much at this stage even for me, could do with more acid ... it was nearly awol (can you be nearly ...); medium length; medium/big bodied; needs a bit more time in the bottle but then there's the acid issue; POP!(+)
see the 04 and 05

whiter shade of pale (wimpy friday)
1)pio cesare gavi 2007
2 bottles of this stuff, one for lunch at a cafe ... very nice but the mark up seemed a little stiff ... was later told of the retail cost ... had shelled out 90% over ... 8-O ... holy grand theft, batman ... so being the cheapskate that i am, got another at the normal price to go with the pasta dinner, just to average things out ...
straw; subtle honey, dried apricot and kernel, almond; follows onto the palate, love the thread of dried apricots, citrus, papaya and pineapple (hint only), oats?, mineral; just enough acid to keep things fresh; light bodied, medium length; do not overchill; good one BANG! (at normal retail)
2)domaine des aubuisières vouvray cuvée de silex 2008
duh ... not for me this.

infanticide 1
at the hole, met 3 friends with whom i have never partaken ... a decantered red at their table ... pulled a glass ... poured one ... great nose ... fella said, grange 2004 ... hmmm, doin babies now, are we? ...last time i saw one (albeit a teener) was when kylie's " i should be so lucky" was a hit...
penfolds grange 2004 [barossa]
dark almost purple; big hit of (perfectly) ripe plum, cherry, hint of vanilla, very primary as to be expected, rocky road?; off dry entry, plum ... again beautifully ripened, bit nutty?/wood/cocoa?, structured and plush all at once ; firm but fine ripe tannins ... the silky rich fruit just shades this aspect at the moment; big bodied; luxurious but not in the overblown sense... everything's so well balanced; very drinkable now but can almost imagine what it'd be like given some age when it picks up more complexity......
bang for the buck? are you joking? have you seen the entry price lately?!!! ZILTCH!
lovely stuff to be sure but more a statement than a wine nowadays, jeeez.
see another one anytime soon? ... i should be so lucky ... lucky, lucky, lucky ...

decent evening
muga prado enea gran riserva 1996 (rioja) [80% temp, 20% garnacha ,mazuelo and graziano]
decanted 15 mins.; dark ruby (belied it's age); ripe berries (still heaps of it), tobacco/a little stalky, wet oak, earth, fresh, suprisingly primary; ripe berries and plum, bit of musk, hint of funky wet fur/leather? (thank god it became barely perceptible in about 25 mins.), sappy/stalky/resin, cocoa?, a little mineral, flavours beginning to meld; balanced by soft fine tannins and excellent juicy acidity; sleek; medium bodied; long ... yay; very much alive and can obviously develop further; BANG! ... woulda been (+) if it were priced a little more modestly.
