not quite girly stuff
domaine des nugues fleurie 2008
supposedly 60 yr old gamay vines. haven't had one of these in ages ...
ruby ... not the usual almost pink stuff; tyres !!! and smoke as the cork was pulled and for about 15 mins thereafter ..., blew away substantially, thank god, hint of violet, rasp, bit of plum; ripe rasp, mineral/metallic feel, menthol?, roast meat?; nice acid; not very long; light/medium bodied; POP! ...
an attempt at being serious i guess but this pleb would rather the girly stuff ...

straw; granny smith, peach, hint of smoke, very restrained as to be expected with this babe; apple, shells, powdery mineral from front to back, opens up only slightly with time, ; nice prickly acid; savoury but not very long with only said mineral extending far beyond that ... kinda like that feel; refreshing; with clams and calamari ... nice; BANG! (-) cos prices are creeping up ...

domaine les pallieres gigondas terrasse du diable 2007 (g:90, m:5, clariatte, a white:5)first vintage of this bottling.
decanted ... 1hr.
dark ruby; floral ... honeysuckle?, fresh plum/red fruit, dusty pepper, green stalkiness ... hint; sleek and elegant for a gig, cherry, plum, rasp?, spice/peppr, cherry nougat, barest hint of wet clay, some mineral; wish there was a smidgen more acid; nice ripe tannins; medium bodied; not very long with a little raw meat at the very end; will develop; 14.5% ... hits you later not when you're chugging it down; BANG! (+) approachable, great value.

ruby ... dark, purple tinge; plum, hint of cassis, pepper, bit of wet clay, initially very closed; ripe plum, fleshy, jam, iron/graphite?, opens up a little with time ... 1.5hrs; solid grippy tannin structure; balancing acid; medium/full bodied; not very long; coupla more years; BANG!

dark straw/gold; floral, honey, dried apricot, nutmeg?, ripe; said apricot and honey, appley, nougat, apricot/peach stone ... , off dry entry?, dry finish; could do with a bit mo acid but still refreshing; not very long; a little rustic; nice; slightly scruffy gavi on a small dose of steroids? BANG!
