filling up

could not get out of town on friday evening because of the traffic ... so i went down to the pharmacy for dinner.

they had some seafood specials, ordered the seafood in brodetto ... not so hot, they fried the prawns and snapper fillet, uurgh. but you ordered it so you eat.

had a bottle of gianni gagliardo batie 2003 (their basic nebbiolo plus a little barbera drop)... garnet; hint of cinnamon and tobacco, strawberries(?), cranberries(?) on the nose; light-medium body, berry fruit, woodiness/cedar (hint); obvious tannins (not really fine but not unpleasent either); fresh acidity on the palate; longish finish. POP! [restaurant markup].

it always surprises me that the lighter sangiovese or nebbiolo based drinks can handle seafood especially that in tomato based preps.

had 6 shots and some free grappa to finish off. not a bad end to a dull day. BANG! of course.
