something's fermenting

it seems that some big boys in montalcino are being investigated with regard to adulterating their brunellos ... frescobaldi, banfi, antinori, argiano ..... ??!!! apparently this started in 2003...

not with glycol (can anyone say rrrrhiesling?...) or some other nasty chemical mind you, just cheap (?) wine from other areas or from non permitted varieties.

the argiano 2001 and the banfi poggio alle mura 1999 are very very nice but hey, what do i know ...

anyway, maybe if the citizens of a certain very democratic country shy away, prices may come down for this stuff ?

anyway, what's not adulterated these days? so what if there's a bit of cab sav or merlot in it? think of it as a "super tuscan"... people pay a lot for the stuff you know... ha ha.
